Lesezentrum Steiermark

The “Lesezentrum Steiermark” is an independent non-profit organisation, located in Graz (Austria) and mainly funded by the government of the region of Styria.

 

With its four highly motivated employees it is an executive organisation and cares for about 600 Styrian libraries (approx. 270 public libraries, 330 school libraries).

 

Our job is:

LIBRARY ORGANISATION (giving advice and support), e.g. in questions of:

• funding

• software

• equipment and building

• material

• legal situation and library structures

 

LIBRARY DEVELOPMENT:

• panning of services and resources (books, other media)

• advising organisational and/or administrative boards (municipalities, parishes)

• formation of librarians

• workshops on demand for librarians, teachers, parents, …

 

READING EDUCATION:

• awareness raising

• reading projects for children and young people (in and – mainly outside school)

• parent education   

 

The “Lesezentrum Steiermark” is furthermore involved in various local and regional projects which aim at encouraging and inspiring a lifelong love of books.
